In 2006 Forsyth County had
$40.8 million dollars in cash reserves

. . . . .
today we have only $10.8 million

( for a graphic on Fiscal Responsibility click here )

With Jim Harrell as your voice on The Finance Committee,
Forsyth County paid:

$4+/- million - - - - - - for un-necessary incentives to bring malls and offices to the 6th most attractive Market in the country.  Retailers like Macy's, Coldwater Creek, etc, fight each other for entry into wealthy counties.
$7.2 million - - - - - - - for a jail site, now worth much less.  Bad site conditions were discovered after the purchase.
$12.7 Million - - - - - - for 2 green space tracts purchased at 4.5 times market value.
$1-2 Million - - - - - - - for right of way land purchases to widen roads that don’t need widening - - rather then fix more intersections.

Now Mr. Harrell, the incumbent District 3 commissioner, has decided it's a good idea to spend $9 to $12 million to buy a golf course.

Forsyth Residents can't afford
this type of
financial mismanagement any longer

On August 10, Homeowners can stop this reckless spending by
voting for Todd Levent.

Todd's Fiscal 3 Point Plan to Increase Revenue

  1. Create an equitable distribution of sales tax revenue to add $8 to $12 million to county coffers.  Use the state "split by population" mandate to achieve 4% versus the 15 to 20% historically paid to the city.
  2. Close loopholes and questionable decisions by county departments:
    • Conservation Use allows 771 valuable undeveloped tracts to receive tax breaks designed to help active farmers.  Many do not appear to actively farmed.  One of the non-farm tracts valued at $1,400,000 pays taxes of only $900 per year45% of the tracts are not even zoned agriculture.  Todd will stop this!!
    • The approximate $150 annual tax per rental trailer that landlords pay should be raised to help shoulder some of the $7,800 per child cost of education.
  3. Encourage technical, medical, financial, and other higher paying companies looking for regional offices as well as technical assembly operations into sites along Ronald Reagan, Freedom & McFarland Parkways designated for such use.

Todd Levent will fight for the homeowners of Forsyth County by creating equitable sales tax revenue sharing with the city, by closing loopholes that benefit a few so that everyone pays a fair share of taxes, and by pursuing new companies to increase the county tax base and decrease the tax burden of homeowners.
