Corporations looking for new locations will invariably look for healthy politics. Did the Mayor’s comments in the last 3 paragraphs of the article tell the corporation to come here or go elsewhere?
Sources of Information
Forsyth local newspapers seem to wish to report mostly good things about the city & the county. The article above would likely not be in a local paper - - neither would the one about a member of the Planning Commission who recently publicly berated a fellow commissioner and then called a citizen a Nazi.
AJC has a Neighborhood section in print and on the internet that frequently has more relevant news than the local papers.
County Seat, etc.
Our understanding is that county seats are designated in the Georgia Constitution. That can not be changed and there is likely no need to do so - - - - - hence our use of the term “County Center”.
Of interest, there are 3 county seats in Georgia that are not incorporated cities.
Finally, it is our understanding that as long as a county seat has one court session a year, that location remains the county seat.
A Model County Center??
Within the past 18 months, we recall 3 different people commenting “how nice it would be to have the city of Dahlonega as our county seat”!!
